With an obvious architecture career, a role as a professional architect is likely to be challenging, fascinating and inspirational – putting you at the forefront of new technology to improve people’s lives while exercising your creativity. As an architect, you’ll be working closely with multidisciplinary teams to design new buildings or complete extensions or alterations to existing ones, ensuring that they are safe, cost-effective and functional.


While the building industry itself offers countless career options, here is a list of 9 careers you can pursue with a degree in architecture

1. INTERIOR DESIGNER

Interior designers, designs or renovate internal spaces, fixtures and fittings, using their architectural, creative design and project management skills to ensure that spaces are both attractive and space efficient. As an architect, we are trained from roots about designing and efficiently managing interior space in the buildings. We always work and think as an Interior Designer from inception of the buildings. Its just like, An Architect can be specialized Interior Designer but an Interior Designer cannot be an Architect.


2. STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Like architects, structural engineers are creative innovators, use mathematics and science to plan, design and oversee structures which will withstand the pressures of human and environmental wear and tear. An architect have to always understand and learn about structural engineering to ensure the safety and the stability of the structure they design. As a structural engineer you’ll integrate with architects and engineers to meet requirement for safe building structures, and will be responsible for choosing the right materials to meet design specifications.


3. URBAN PLANNER

The population of the urban areas is rapidly growing and the demanding for more and more spaces. The conditions of urbanism are constantly in a state of flux. The dynamic state of the urban environment makes it an exciting path to take as an architect, covering everything from economic and demographic changes, to sustainable development. It’s an essential responsibility within our profession, but a challenging one; it requires adaptability and problem solving on a large scale. You will aim to balance the conflicting needs of the local environment, population and economy and think of innovative, sustainable solutions for town/city developments.


4. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

Landscape architecture involves the planning, design, management, and nurturing of the built and natural environments. With their unique skill set, landscape architects work to improve human and environmental health. They plan and design parks, campuses, streetscapes, trails, plazas, residences, and other projects that strengthen communities. After completing bachelors degree in architecture. architect's who are interested in environmental restoration and conservation can opt for a master's degree in the landscape architecture.


5. ENVIRONMENTAL & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN ARCHITECT

With rapid Urbanization, we are losing our climate every single day. The role of a sustainable architect is to minimize the negative effects on mother nature, by intensifying the efficiency and fair use of energy, moderate use of materials. Sustainable architecture strives to build or renovate homes and buildings using a combination of energy-efficient technology, renewable materials, and innovative design. This approach reduces waste and uses sustainable products, which minimises the environmental impact of a new development. It also affects the long-term environmental consequences by producing energy-efficient buildings.


6. CONSERVATION ARCHITECT

Conservation architects care about preserving the character of a building from this moment in time, showing all of the changes that make up the rich history of the building. Their projects primarily involve helping to conserve buildings. They want to ensure that the building does not degrade further and fall into neglect. A conservation architect may well work on a building that can be saved from demolition in order to make it more sustainable, regenerate the building and surrounding area and to conserve the structure for the future generations.


7. RESEARCH ARCHITECT

With the constant advancement of digital tools, our methods of representation and expression are changing dramatically. Information technology has had a profound impact upon architecture that is far from over. These constant improvements are in part made possible by the exciting research being done by architects, not necessarily consisting of designing buildings, but focusing more on how these new tools can enhance our work and most importantly in improvement of living styles.


8. BIM ARCHITECT

With the time advancement in technology and computer made a lot of competition and improvement in the field of architecture. If you are interested in software, computers, and model making B.I.M is the best choice after an architecture degree. BIM is a building information methodology that allows the architect to create designs digitally available, gives all the information associated with the project. It cut down the man manpower at extending and opens the door for complex structures.


9. ARCHITECTURE JOURNALIST

Architectural Journalism is the practice of independent writing and commentary within the fields of architecture, design and urbanism. Architecture journalism as any kind of journalism is reporting the new advances in the architectural world, existing unknown and hidden facts and interesting concepts of buildings, innovative designs. In short documenting anything related to architecture can be termed as architecture journalism. The various articles we read in design magazines about the buildings, space planning, reporting architectural conferences, reporting about various architectural colleges, new architects,etc, all fall under this category.
